Heather honey - made in Italy
Harvest period: April - May
Consistency: Heather honey naturally presents a homogeneous crystallised consistency. This honey contains very fine grains resulting in a creamy and mellow product.
Colour: Quite dark amber tending to a shade of condensed milk and molasses.
Taste: Expert assessors find an important caramel note in Heather Honey, with a toasted and slightly bitter aftertaste. Despite the presence of a soft floral aroma, the taste mainly reminds to that of toffees.
Flavour: Smell and taste together give a quite strong and slightly persistent aroma, reflecting caramel and lactic notes.

This product surprises for its perfect association with a great variety of dishes: from Middle East stewed meat to Chinese rice, but also several types of sausages typically served as starters in Piedmont. Heather honey is ideal on toasted and buttered bread, in particular in association with a thin layer of French salted butter.
Heather shrubs are characteristic of Mediterranean regions. They present inflorescences grouped in pink and white bunches. The Latin name comes from ancient Greek “Ereikin”, literally “to break”. Indeed heather branches can be broken quite easily.
